The Matt Calautti Fund

For that those of you who saw my mom's obituary, you may have seen that in lieu of flowers, we asked that our friends and family please donate to the Matthew Calutti fund. I wanted to share with you the story behind why we chose that cause.
After the sudden passing of my mom, I along with my dad, sister and my aunts arrived at the funeral home to plan her service. We knew that we wanted funds to go to a certain cause instead of flowers. We had plenty of ideas but nothing was jumping out at us as the "˜exact' cause that she would have wanted us to support in her memory. Despite all our brain storming, nothing perfect was coming to mind so we decide to take some time and sleep on it.
The next morning, my sister discovered a note with my mom's writing. On this note she had listed several organizations that would fulfill wishes for children and their terminally ill parents. Her idea was to send my cousin Matt and his children to Disney World where they could enjoy some family time and make some memories that his children would always cherish.
As soon as we saw the note, we knew what we would do in her memory. We would set up a fund for Matt and fulfill her wish of helping him and his children during this difficult time of his life.
Now about Matt Calautti...Matt is my cousin. He is just 29 years old and was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Our goal is to raise enough money to ensure he can make some memories with his two small children, as well as to help with any medical bills not covered by insurance. He is just a wonderful, sweet and caring guy. It breaks all of our hearts that he is going through this and we would all just love to be able to give him something to look forward to and to give him the means to spend some quality time with his children, whether it be a vacation away, day trips, or any other adventures:.
