ICU Funds for Mammie

My Mammie (Grandmother) and mom were traveling from California back to Florida from visiting us when my Mammie (grandmother) starting experiencing chest pains, slurred speech and difficulty breathing. My mother, Carol, reacted quickly and had my nephew call the hospital with information to find the closest facility to their location, all while pulling a travel trailer. My Mammie was admitted for congestive heart failure. She was intubated, sedated, and X-rays taken. X-rays were completely white showing lots of fluids on her lungs. The CT scan showed she did not have any blood clots. Once cleared of the blood clot issue the medical staff life-flighted her to a specialty hospital for further testing. Once Mammie was assessed by the doctors at Shannon Medical Center, the test showed she had in fact suffered a major heart attack with extensive damage. They have since placed two stints, a balloon pump, an NG tube, and she will remain on the ventilator. This is a temporary fix as they are trying to get her stable enough before we transport her back to Florida where they will do her Bypass surgery. During the 60 mile drive to the hospital my Mother and nephew were hit by a herd of deer that was near field and ran in front of my mother’s truck. She was able to dodge most of them but one deer managed to run between her truck and the camper trailer. The accident resulted in a puncture a foot long hole and a large dent from impact. No injuries were sustained by my mother and nephew. But when it rains it pours! We are asking for help as this is going to be a costly stay for my Mother (with missed work), Nephew and two dogs in Texas while waiting for my Mammie to recover. We hope to raise some funds to help cover the cost of the stay, food and unknown medical cost that will not be immediately funded by the insurance. This is a scary place emotionally for them since they are in an area where they do not know anyone for immediate emotional support. Any help no matter the size will be greatly appreciated!
