Mago's Leukemia Journey

Dear Family and Friends,
My sister Margarita Martinez also, as our family and friends lovingly call her Mago was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on October 7, 2013. AML is a blood cancer that starts inside bone marrow,the soft tissues that help form blood cells. The cancer grows from cells that would normally turn into white blood cells. Persons with this type of cancer have abnormal cells inside their bone marrow.The cells grow very quickly,and replace healthy blood cells. The bone marrow which helps the body fight infections,eventually stops working correctly.
My sister has undergone intensive chemotherapy. Her last round of chemotherapy was January 13,2014. She has also undergone a stem cell transplant from my younger sister Teresa Martinez. She has had a tough battle thus far,but overall she has never lost her faith and stayed positive throughout this journey.
A little background about my sister Mago. She is a teacher,loves to run, and work out. She always has a smile on her face, loves to dance, and make everyone around her happy. She is always there to help others any way she can. She is a strong woman that will kick cancer's butt.
The next phase in her journey is  100 days of isolation.Right now,she is in Loyola Medical hospital until her counts go up, once they do she will be in her apartment completing the rest of her 100 days. As of today, it is day 11 out of 100. She will still be receiving medical care until she fully recovers and wins this battle.
Go ahead,take a breath,hug your loved ones,and count your blessings! We need your help to donate to my sister by donating to this fund to relieve financial burden.Funds will go toward medical costs, medicine, and everything she needs during this process.
