Hydrotherapy sessions for Maddison!

Maddison, who is only 14 years old, has recently been diagnosed with Encephalitis lethargica. It is a disease characterized by high fevers, headaches, double vision, delayed physical and mental response, and lethargy. In acute cases, patients may enter coma.

Prior to Maddison's urgent Hospital admission, she was completely independent, playful, and confident girl. Maddison now cannot walk outside independently and is requiring a rollator frame to mobilise indoors for very short distances; Maddison also requires assistance with her personal activities of daily living from her parents. Due to her condition, she is only can stay awake for a couple of hours at a time before having to sleep and is on medication that makes her highly anxious.

After spending 3 months in Manchester Childrens Hospital, she has recently returned home with the support from her Family. Whilst in Hospital, Maddison was having Hydrotherapy sessions, and these were proving to be very beneficial in Maddison's recovery and her wellbeing.

Unfortunately, these sessions have now finished as they were based in Manchester. However, there is a Hydrotherapy pool local to Maddison that can be funded privately for her to have 1-1 sessions.

In support of Maddison and her recovery, we would like to invite you all to participate in the Lytham 10km run with the Fylde Coast Runners on Sunday 14th November from 11am (remembrance Sunday), to raise money for Maddison to continue her Hydrotherapy sessions.
