Hello! My name is Melissa Sue and this is my 5 month old puppy Maddie Mae!
This is our story. Maddie was born to a breeder that saw her imperfections and wanted to have her euthanized. You see, Maddie has a heart murmur. Fortunately, a rescue in PA called They Deserve Better Dog Rescue saved Maddie before that could happen . I was fortunate enough to be selected to adopt Maddie and drove down to pick her up with my sister (21 hours altogether) on October 4th. Now let me tell you a little bit about my Maddie! She is the light of my life! From the moment I got her, I wondered how I lived without her. She is so sweet, playful, a true cuddler, and beautiful.
Due to Maddie's heart murmur, our vet wanted to do an echocardiogram to get a base line. The echo determined Maddie's heart murmur is actually a condition called PDA. PDA is heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosis meaning Maddie has a hole in her heart. The doctor's at Tuft's told us that Maddie wont live past her first birthday (June 20th) if surgery is not performed.
I've only had Ms. Maddie Mae 6 weeks, but it has been a rocky six weeks. Her heart surgery is the only medical issue keeping her from living a long, happy and healthy life. So Maddie and I are asking for your help.
I know there are a lot of animals out there that need assistance; but due to the amount of unexpected medical bills we've accumulated over the past 6 weeks, paying for this $5,000 surgery will be extremely difficult. I appreciate any financial assistance you can provide Maddie.
