Castlefield Defibrillator - MRR Campaign

This year, Manchester Road Runners (MRR) have set themselves the challenge of raising money for a public access defibrillator (or AED), to be homed at The Wharf pub.  It is a cause that is close to our hearts and will benefit our members, the residents and community in the area; as there is not currently an accessible defibrillator in Castlefield. 

In order to raise the money we will be hosting lots of events throughout the year, we hope you can join us to support this amazing cause. 

Who are MRR?
We’re a sociable running group, organised completely by volunteers, based in the centre of Manchester. Meeting every Wednesday night at the lovely Wharf pub in Castlefield. We are all about trying to be inclusive for everyone, aiming to give people the opportunity to get fit with like minded people and meet new friends whilst doing it. We’re a non-for-profit club so rely of self-funding, sponsorship or fundraising to cater for all our runners needs.

What is an AED?
A public access defibrillator or automated external defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it's an essential part in trying to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest.

What is our goal?
For 2020 we are hoping to raise enough money to purchase and install a defibrillator with a protective cabinet.  We are working closely with The Wharf pub to find a suitable location outside their building, it will be available for anyone in need to use 24/7.
