Lt Col Matt Platt Memorial

Tax deductible

Matthew Platt, loving husband of Abigail Platt, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 while pursuing his passion for aviation.  Matt was a Lieutenant Colonel, Air Force Pilot, who spent the majority of his career intricately involved within the United States Special Operations Command.

Matt’s passion for aviation began as a young man growing up in Oregon.  He ultimately pursued his dream by graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 2003 and thus becoming an Air Force Pilot.  Through his unwavering patriotism and love of flying, Matt worked hard and volunteered often for deployment opportunities.  He spent the majority of his first years in the Air Force flying overseas in support of missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries throughout the Middle East.  Matt’s professionalism, aptitude, great attitude and work ethic led him to being selected to fly for units within the Special Operations Command (SOCOM).  His dedication and leadership on the battlefield and while in garrison propelled him to succeed within the SOCOM community.  He was handpicked multiple times to command and lead air assets in support of numerous national security missions.  With his combat credibility and humble leadership, he was most recently selected to start, from the ground up, a new innovative Special Operations Squadron.

Matt Platt was the epitome of a “Quiet Professional.”  Our country is more secure because of him and we will all live a better life exemplifying the principles he embodied.  Matt is survived by his loving wife, Major Abigail Platt, his mother Sheryl, and sister Sarah.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to pay for any costs not covered by the government, such as travel costs of Matt and Abby's families, some costs associated with the memorials, and many more uncovered expenses typical of this type of tragedy. Any funds left over will be distributed completely to Matt's  spouse/family in accordance with his wishes.
