You may or may not have heard of Mind Body Results (affectionately known as MBR). So allow us to introduce or educate how we have reached this point. MBR happened as a regular group of individuals assembled to exercise during the shutdown early in the pandemic. Despite having a love for many activities within the athletic world, the growing group activity was cycling centric at the time. Cycling gives you distance, takes you places, while still delivering the satisfaction of an excellent workout. These open cycling rides turned into a community and Before we knew it, we were riding with all races and experience levels.

Cycling isn’t the inner city sport or activity of choice, especially for minority households. We hope to be a catalyst in changing this narrative while at the same time aiding in unifying our local community. Both of those things started happening concurrently this spring. As our numbers grew we saw that we were able to attract new riders, bike enthusiasts, and people who just craved to be around other people safely. This gave our core following more diversity and flavor. Diversity always wins.

As the world responded to George Floyd, so did we. MBR is most probably best known for our weekly Purpose Rides. As a group, We have taken a stand against social injustices, done school supply drives, organized to improve the census locally, and breast cancer awareness. We didn’t initially set out to be role models, activists, or leaders. Core members of MBR have been selfless in pouring into supplies to repair bikes, water, snacks, and safety gear. Even while committee members have been rendered unemployed during Covid.

Why say all of this? The past couple of months have made a purpose clear. A vision has come into view of what MBR can be. A multifaceted platform has emerged whether your interests are; a creative way to explore the community, an introduction to competitive cycling, and/or, our most rewarding aspect, engagement in social justice. To do this, we now ask for your support. We ask for help to create a nonprofit that would build on the community, build on cycling, build on physical fitness as well as civic engagement.
