Help two-year-old Lukas

A few months ago my friends’ two-year-old son Lukas suffered a terrifying accident. As he was playing in the family’s apartment, a window which his parents had been assured was sealed shut opened behind his back, and he fell six stories. He was critically injured.
Against all odds Lukas survived, spending months in the hospital. It will take him years to recover from his devastating injuries, and he faces potential lifelong disability. But he is an amazing little kid with an irrepressibly happy spirit, and he’s pushing through his recovery with phenomenal strength.
Lukas’s parents and brother are traumatized. Over the course of these past months the family have become overwhelmed, and their savings exhausted. Their financial challenges include:
Lost income for both parents.
Thousands in lost security deposits and moving expenses.
Childcare bills needed for Lukas’s safety supervision.
Monthly expenses for physical and psychological therapy bills.
An unknown amount for nerve damage tests that doctors recommend but insurance won’t cover.
Our present goal of $15,000 would help this family essentially break even and get through the summer. Anything beyond that would be an amazing gift that could help Lukas and his brother with future recovery needs like special therapy and schooling. The brothers are the best of friends, and the accident has scarred them both.
If there are excess funds that aren’t directly needed, a donation will be arranged to the hospital that saved Lukas’s life.
The Bouinatchov family is humbled and embarrassed to ask for help, but they are struggling through a nightmare. Any resolution with the apartment complex will likely be tied up in the courts for a long time. Getting help right now would literally change their lives.
