Lucy's Diabetic Alert Dog Fund

Donation protected
Hello, my family of 6 and I are raising funds to provide our youngest, Lucy with a service dog that is trained to smell out her blood sugar if it gets dangerously high or low.
We are a single income family of 6 who learned of Lucy having Type 1 diabetes not quite 2 months ago and the diagnosis came as a huge shock.
Low blood sugar levels are a big fear for diabetics and are especially scary overnight as a lot of diabetics won't wake up in the event of a low.  A drop in blood sugar can result in seizures, unconsciousness and even death if untreated.
This is a picture of a Diabetic Alert Dog alerting it's owner of a low blood sugar:

A fully trained blood sugar dog is upwards of $20,000! Our goal instead is to purchase a pure bread dog recommended for blood sugar sniffing and train the dog ourselves in a local(ish) workshop for a fraction of the cost.
Being able to provide this peace of mind for our child's well-being would be priceless. We're asking for any help you can offer to make this dream a reality for our family.
The breeder we found is Shedless in Seattle which breeds Labradoodles , they have amazing reviews and a good record for providing healthy dogs. Their price is $3,100 and includes much more than just a pet!
We estimate local obediance training will cost $200 and then the Diabetic alert training in Seattle would be with Service Dog Academy  . The alert training is a 4 day workshop and is $1,299. The excess $400 we're raising would help with the cost of travel and hotel during the 4 day workshop which both Lucy and a parent would attend.
Lucy's Story:
On January 17, 2016 our 4 year old daughter, Lucy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She woke up that morning with some symptoms we couldn't ignore. We took her to the ER where she was given her diagnosis of Type 1 as well as being in DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis). The definition of DKA can be found here: American Diabetes Association website .
From our local hospital they airlifted our baby to the Seattle Children's Hospital because of the urgency of her condition.
She was so weak from the impact of this disease on her body. Our family's lives were turned upside down in an instant, we've learned to manage this disease and learned what our new normal will look like now but the relief that a diabetic alert dog could provide our family is beyond measure.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for considering donating to Lucy's fund. I can't express how much it would mean to us to be able to provide Lucy with a "safety net" like this.
