Total Bills running $1,647.26
Lucy was not only hit, but ran over. Initially a few cars slowed down, but then took off. She suffered compound fractures in her foot, swelling up 3 times her normal size, at least a 3 inch internal tear, also a couple of outer tears on her rump. The vet put two staples on the outside for now. The funds needed for Lucy consist of at least $2,000.00. The vet has mentioned, if she can see the specialist, they can put a pin in her foot re-align her bones, and they have a better chance at healing correctly. The cost to see the specialist would be a $2,000 minimum. If she does not go to the specialist, the bones may not heal right. These costs do not cover the follow up visits or medication needed. If you can please share this on your facebook, or other media sites you are a part of, it would be a great help. Even $5.00 can make the difference. Her existing bills are about $1,300.... Thanks for reading, sharing and caring.

8/27/2013 Today Lucy had her visit with Pinnacle Pet Hospital. they checked her levels and they were at 290 today. At the time of the accident they were 900, which was way to high to do any type of surgery or procedures. (& Thursday they were to high) The normal level is in the high 100. The Hospital called me yesterday to let me know that since Lucy did not have any surgeries yet they would have to re-evaluate her, after checking her levels. The doctor kept Lucy for the day, spent some time with the specialist, going over levels what to do to check the break of how its healing etc... The doctor was able to do the surgery, realigned the bones. Since its been a while since the break, the specialist said that at this point she would not put a pin in it. The build up in the bones were doing good. It may take her a little longer to heal, with more follow up visits, but it was the best thing they can do for now. They removed the staples, and they want to monitor how the tears heal over the next week. The Internal tear is mending, the outer ones look ok. She has a follow up visit in 1 week. Today is the first day she ate 2 CANS OF DOG FOOD! Wagged her Tail through out the day, Sniffed a dog at the vet hospital (but then cowered back to me), she is doing so much better now. Last Night was the first night she snuggled again.... She is definitely feeling better. I can't wait until the weekend rolls around, Maybe she can eat nothing but normal dog food by then. I am going to feed her 1 1/2 cups of cottage cheese tonight with her last dose of medication... whooo hooo! GO Lucy GO! I have attached a pic. She now has a cow print wrap on her splint.

9/5/2013 Today was Lucy's weekly visit with Dr. Moore. Her splint was broken and her foot was very moist. Lucy tried running last night, then had a very big limp coming back in the house. I told her she can't do that. They wanted to monitor her today and dry out her foot. When its moist it causes infections, and some times gangrene. She will get another round of antibiotics, since she has an infection on her tail. It may be from the wipes I have been using. So the doctor recommended I use a warm towel. The tears seem to be healing and mending. I asked if she will need stitches, because it looks like she has a golf ball sticking out. The Doctor said she would still like to monitor it for another week and doesn't want to do anything with an infection in proximity. Lucy has a lot more energy now. She wants to stay outside and play. The doctor wants her crated, so she is not walking around so much so she can heal faster. She is in a crate that I have for her but it's to big. The doctor says it looks like she is getting at her backside. I will need to buy her a new one...... Todays visit was $216.72... ouch! I hope the next visit is better.
