Lucero Love

As many of you know, Tony Lucero was diagnosed with ALS in December, 2013.  Before his diagnosis, Tony spent his time playing softball, volleyball, tennis, bowling, golf and basketball.  Since his diagnosis, Tony has retired from his “job”, spends his days watching after Spencer, playing poker with the boys, watching the Denver Broncos and the North Carolina Tarheels.  Tony has not allowed this diagnosis to define him and will not allow it to define what he can or cannot do.  However, Tony is limited to what he can do, but with the help of his partner, David, Tony is still able to watch his daughter, Jordyn, perform in her band recital and watch her play volleyball.  The simple things that Tony is able to do brings a smile from ear to ear.

As Team Tony, we are hoping to raise money for future medical expenses that will come from the ALS progression.  As of today, Tony can no longer grasp objects, he can’t walk without struggling to do so and his speech has progressively gotten worse.  The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge of 2014 was a huge success and has afforded the ALS/MDA programs to provide assistance to David and Tony through the use of wheelchairs, scooters and ramps for their home.  Thank you to everyone who personally participated and donated to the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Recently, Tony and David had to sell their home in Aurora and purchase a more “disability friendly” home in Littleton.  David and Tony have started the slow process of converting this home into a more functional/friendly space for Tony.  With your help, David and Tony will be able to complete this renovation sooner.  Tony will no longer have to struggle with stairs, struggle in the bathroom, struggle in the kitchen and will be able to maneuver throughout the entire home more easily.
