We would like to tell you a story. This is a story of an amazing family, a journey through cancer and last but certainly not least, God’s faithfulness and care as we walk through the challenges we experience in life and how we come together to care for one another as a community.
Tim and Sherri and their 4 children (Noah, Zach, Emma and Abby) attend Cedar Creek Community Church in Cambridge, ON where Tim recently began his new position as pastoral team lead. Up until recently, Sherri has worked in both personal care and administrative work while her two boys attend high school and the girls are in elementary school in Kitchener. The Lovedays are kind, intentional and inspiring people who love people sacrificially without regard for themselves. They also inspire with musical gifts that they share with those they come in contact with! Life has certainly thrown challenges their way, but they have repeatedly shared how God has met them in their need and used it to reflect His kindness to those they come in contact with.
Today a new kind of challenge is facing the Loveday family. On September 18th, the day that Tim was to officially start his new position at Cedar Creek, Tim and Sherri were instead sitting with doctors receiving information relating to what many would consider a devastating diagnosis. Test results confirmed a diagnosis of High Grade Serous Carcinoma - Ovarian Cancer.
On Wednesday, September 27th at 9am, Sherri will be undergoing surgery relating to this diagnosis. This is merely the beginning to the road ahead in fighting this disease. The expected hospital stay will be 3-5 days in Hamilton with weeks of recovery afterward in preparation for months of aggressive chemotherapy when her body is ready to handle it.
As you can imagine, this diagnosis is an unexpected turn of events in the life of the Loveday family, and while we are all hopeful and praying for full healing and recovery, there are some immediate financial concerns and needs that need to be addressed. Many of you lovey people have already indicated a desire to help and this page is going to be a valuable part of fulfilling these tangible practical needs.
The top needs we have determined at this time include the following:
1. medical equipment
2. Personal care
3. Travel expenses
4. Lost income
We have determined the immediate needs in the next month or so will be for approximately $10,000 with the understanding that this may increase as more is known about the recovery process. Our hope is to alleviate the stress of financial burden and remove this as a distraction so that the family can focus completely on healing and their family.
There are a variety of ways available to you to join with us in being God’s “hands and feet” serving the Lovedays so that as many potential obstacles can be eliminated as possible. This way they will be able to focus completely on their family and healing. Please prayerfully consider what option(s) from this list are best for you:
1. One time donations which will be used for specific items needed for recovery
2. Recurring donations which will help with ongoing expenses
3. Meals - if this is an option you are interested in instead of/as well as financial giving, please send an email to [email redacted] and someone will respond ASAP with a link for “Meal Train” to schedule you in to provide a meal and the specifics required.
