The world needs more female filmmakers.  I am fully aware that this remains an upward climb, yet I am determined to push my way towards this career by creating my own reel (a sample of my work).  I believe that film is the most visceral and easily digestible form of art. Often times we cannot hear what is being told to us directly, but through observation and emotion film allows us to examine our own lives. Storytelling is an incredible way to navigate and understand the world and the people around us.

In 2016 I wrote and directed a completely self-funded short film called “The Drive” (TheDriveShortFilm.com).  This film dealt with the role reversal a daughter feels as she drives her aging parents to their new home at an assisted living center.  I’ve spent the past year in the festival circuit trying to gain exposure.  My producers and I have been proudly accepted to nine film festivals across the country.

The next step is to make something bigger.  Something that shows my ability to tell a full story boiled down. I ended up writing “Love: Abridged,” the story of Ophelia a newly divorced woman grasping for stability, finds herself drawn to the old Kosciuszko Bridge. Under the spell of telepathy and a growing case of objectophilia (emotional/sexual attraction to an object), she falls hopelessly in love. With the bridge’s demolition looming, will their love meet the same fate as her past relationships?

Loneliness is probably the most intense feeling I’ve ever encountered. It affected me daily, it changed my personality, my perspective, my physical body.  This story is about a woman at that exact point, and just how creative love and sexuality can become when someone is extremely vulnerable. The love affair between Ophelia and Koz (The Kosciuszko Bridge) helps “bridge” one relationship to the next. Some relationships are exactly that. Some people are just bridge people.

Unfortunately, funding a project like this on my own isn’t feasible. That is why I am looking for the support of my friends and colleagues that believe in me and the need for more female filmmakers. I am incredibly grateful for any donations to help me get this project made and bring me one step forward on my career path. The estimated cost is based off the production/post film budget (cast, crew, location, equipment, meals, visual effects, and editing).

Getting this film made is immensely important to me and my career path. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider help funding my project.

My Very Best,
