I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer this spring..I had noticed some "spotting' and when you have been in menopause..for 1 1/2 years.something is not quite right.I received a complete check up from my primary physician.Dr.Mario Tagliagambe .. he then referred me to a female gynecologist ..Dr.Myra Mabry..in Saranac Lake. She performed a pap smear...and also scheduled an ultrasound and a procedure to remove a piece of the uterine lining to be used as a biopsy specimen. I got a call back two days later..I went to her office where she told me that I had cancer...Not the best news, but we were all pretty sure that we had caught it early. One thing about endometrial cancer is that it is one of the earliest to be detected in women. So My gynecologist referred me to a gynecologist/oncologist for the surgery to have a complete hysterectomy..as I was past child bearing age..it made the most sense.I did do research and while going to the referral which was at St.Peters' in Albany , NY, Dr.Joyce Barlin...I also contacted Dr.Gilbert Lederman who was recommended to me by friends. After performing blood work and a PET scan it was decided that I would have the surgery ..While the surgery was mostly a success..thay had found that the cancer had gone part way through the uterine wall.. requiring more extensive radiation..which is why I am spending over a month in New York City ,I had contacted the American Cancer Society to see if they had any resonable lodgings available.but being in the summer they were all booked up...and cancer is not something you can put away for a more expedient time.I have been out of work for 2 months now.I have recieved a few disability checks ..while they will help pay basic bills like phone, power etc..not anywheres close to the hotel.I would definitly like to pay the lodgings soon as possible. my last treatment is September 8th..
