My children need their mum.
Please help me in my fight to extend my life.
My name is Lisa, I am 36 years old and live near Derby. I am very lucky to have three wonderful children: Ruby (7 years old), Zach (4 years old) and our little baby Scarlett (7 months old). I've been married to my lovely husband Craig for almost 10 years.
2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer. The cancer has spread to my liver which is covered all over with tumours (too many to count).
The cancer is incurable, and the prognosis is poor although the Doctor hasn't yet given me a specific life expectancy.
Half of people with this condition die within 9 months.
But there are stories of hope...
...people in similar situations who have lasted several years .
For me a couple of years would make all the difference:
- I could see Zach on his first day at school.
- I might make it to see Ruby start secondary school
- I might see Scarlett's first steps or hear her first word... and my biggest motivation is that I live long enough that she might remember me.
I don't want to cry... I want to fight this thing.
In the last few weeks I have spoke to some amazing people who are living with, and beating, cancer and they have given me wonderful advice and encouragemet, and told me, however bad the prognosis, not to give up.
So I'm now preparing for the fight of my life.
Everyone is asking me how they can help. Honestly, right now my biggest concern is that I am the full time carer for our 3 children, but my symptoms are already quite debilitating and now i will need to spend a lot of time at the hospital.
So I am raising money to hire a full time nanny.
If I can find a really great nanny I know the kids are taken care of, and I have the flexibility to focus on getting the treatment I need to try and slow the cancer down.
£50k would pay for a full time nanny for the next few years, supporting me to get treatment now or (if the worst happens) providing some extra support for my husband if i don't make it.
Any donation, however small, will help. My children need their mum (for as long as possible at least).
