Liberian Ledley takes America!

Donation protected
Hi!  My name is Ledley.  I recently had to leave my family, home, and everything I knew to come to America for my best chance at a successful future.

My opportunities in Liberia were limited.  I was hospitalized many times with malaria which caused problems with my immune system, and this whole year my school was closed because of the Ebola outbreak.

My grandmother, Sarah, came to America before I was born.  She is taking care of me while still working up to 16 hours per day, 7 days per week, to make ends meet.  We are living with her friends, Merle and Barnett, who are also doing their best to help me with everything I need.

I am trying to catch up to my American peers at school, especially with learning American English, reading, and writing.  Because all of the grown ups work, I also need extra child care before and after school, as well as during the summer when school is not in session.  I also need some help with all of my legal bills related to immigration and adoption, tutoring, to be able to participate in extra curricular activities, as well as some of the basics like food, school supplies, and clothes, since this has been my first cold winter.

Anything that you can spare is appreciated and will go directly towards my care, camp, helping catch up in school, legal and medical bills, and day to day needs.

Thank you all so much for listening to my story and any help you can give me!
