Dave Leavitt's Leukemia Fight Fund
Donation protected
On June 13, 2012 Dave was in the ICU at Memorial Hospital when he and wife, Barbara, received the devastating news that his critical illness was diagnosed as Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Thus began our battle against this deadly disease. Dave endured 4 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy but the leukemia returned mid-March. Now his only hope is a successful bone marrow transplant. Our goal in choosing this fundraiser is to help with our increased medical costs/decreased income (Dave is on disability, Barbara retired to be caregiver) as we continue this fight and face the expense/uncertainty of the transplant process. Once the transplant procedure begins we will have to maintain two residences~our home, as well as a temporary residence in Denver near the U of Colorado Hospital Cancer Center for at least 3 months. The outpouring of love, thoughts, prayers and support has been and continues to be a huge blessing. Since many have asked how they could help, we have selected this fundraiser since our most critical need is financial assistance. Funds collected above our needs will be used to support the Memorial Hospital Foundation, Stand Up 2 Cancer, the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, and St. Jude's Hospital. Our thanks to all for your love and support.
