Dear family, friends whom I call family, and benevolent strangers,
It is my absolute pleasure to announce some pretty exciting news: I have been selected for an internship with The Creative Mind Group at FESTIVAL DE CANNES!
As an aspiring producer, completing an internship at this Festival de Cannes will broaden my horizon tenfold. I will be assigned to a company who will show me their daily lives at the best film festival in the world. I will get to network with countless members of the industry, learn how content is bought and sold, and meet other aspiring filmmakers to collaborate with in the future. I’m beyond grateful to be awarded this opportunity and I cannot WAIT to take advantage of everything it has to offer!
So, this leads me into why I’m here and why I’ve invited you to be here with me.
This program is expensive. My goal is to be completely transparent with all the information I have, because I understand the weight of what I’m asking for.
The amount in this GoFundMe is the program cost ($3,600) plus $200 more for 14 dinners. Following is a loose breakdown of what the cost covers so that you understand all that this money will be going to:
- Official Festival de Cannes Credential
- Lodging (this is a big chunk)
- Breakfast & lunch
- Cell phone (with wifi!)
- Shuttle service (to and from hotel)
- T-shirt (always a fan of the t-shirt)
- Miscellaneous admin program fees
A positive note: my graduate program has so graciously offered to pay for my flight!
THANK YOU FSU College of Motion Picture Arts for believing in me and translating your unending support into cold hard CA$H. But, in all seriousness, you have been a family to me since I was 8 years old. I am deeply grateful and I will always be indebted to you.
With all that in mind, I fully recognize that this is a lot to ask of the community that has ALWAYS supported me in every way. I have put this fundraising campaign into the universe in the hopes that it will help me on my way, but I only ask for what you can do without. If this means $20, amazing, $5, wonderful, nothing? positive vibes and lots of love will be soaked up with gratitude.
As a small token of my appreciation, I pledge to share my experiences overseas in the form of a blog.
That’s right: the blog is back, baby.
Well, it will be. Soon enough.

P.S. I have also been thinking of incentives for different levels of donations. So here are some I think I'll try:
$10 I'll tweet something embarrassing to the celebrity of your choice on the topic of your choice.
$20 I'll write a haiku about you (I'm not a poet, this could be very fun for you to watch me fail)
$35 I'll post a loving memory of our friendship (photo if applicable) on Facebook to show every how cool and supportive you are.
$50 I'll hold up a piece of paper with your name on it somewhere in Cannes and post a picture on Facebook to show everyone how cool and supportive you are.
$75 I'll send you a postcard with a handwritten thank you note when I get to Cannes! Just PM me with the address if I don't already know it.
$100 + I'll do my VERY best to get someone famous to say your name. Keep in mind, I'm trying to get a job, BUT I probably couldn't have gotten there without your huge donation - embarrassment: worth it. If I can't, I'll send you TWO postcards. They'll be really nice postcards.
If you have any suggestions for more incentives, let me know! I'm open to it all - except shaving my head. I'll use that one when I'm crowdfunding for the first feature film I produce.
