LATE NIGHT ODYSSEY - Staged Reading

Hi! My name is Grant Bowen. I’m excited to tell you that Late Night Odyssey - my first-ever full-length play - has been invited to mount a staged reading in this year’s Broadway Bound Theatre Festival!
ABOUT THE PLAY:
Homer, a struggling novelist, is still not over his ex-girlfriend Penelope. While on a night out in the Lower East Side with his best friends, he decides to lead them on a journey to his favorite Astoria bar, in hopes of finally figuring some things out. Inspired by The Odyssey, Homer's journey is one of strange characters, endless distractions, subway delays, and uncomfortable revelations.
Thanks to Broadway Bound, this will be the play’s first performance in front of a public audience, in a free one-night-only event at the 14th Street Y on August 14th, 2018 @ 5pm!
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:
I know what you’re thinking...yes, a staged reading means that our actors will be reading the play, script in hand, in front of an audience. No sets, no costumes, no props, few rehearsals. Shouldn’t cost that much to produce, right?
While, yes, that is true, we still need to cover quite a few costs that come from producing an event like this, including:
- cast & crew stipends
- rehearsal space
- script and program printing
- promotional materials
- invitations to industry guests

Late Night Odyssey is a very special piece to me. What started out as a quirky idea ultimately turned into a testament to my life experience in my twenties. It’s funny, thoughtful, and speaks honestly about a periodI of life not often reflected in other projects. Plus, a donation to us is support towards the development of new works. I truly believe that this play can go the distance...and you can help us take a very important step forward.
