Strong for Lea

This month is a tough one for me. 9 Years ago I was about to have my first child, and on Sept 25, our son Silas was born and then died due to complications. The tail end of Aug into September I'm full of emotions as you can imagine.

In honor of Silas and Carly (another child who left too soon), I am going to take something on that is hard, but for a cause. A cause that breaks my heart into pieces because I'm watching a family go through something no one should ever have to.

A few weeks ago, my coach and friend recently received the worst news any parent can get. Her 6 year old daughter has a DPIG brain tumor. It is fatal. And not only is it fatal, it it slowly robs her of her ability to run, play, talk, eat, laugh. Pretty much the worst thing ever. I've already seen good friends go through this in my life (Carly's parents).

Christa & Tuff Girl Fitness  was essential in my healing through the loss of Silas. It started with workouts in East Rock Park, then moved to a VFW in the winter. Finally Christa & Mike opened up their space in Hamden, CT.  9 years later, its a booming biz that does amazing work in our community.  I've been going on and off these last 9 years, but for the last 2, it's been part of my regular routine,  not only to get strong physically, but it's been my mental health. It got me through the loss of Silas, the IVF while trying to get pregnant with Zephyr and then the miscarriage I suffered 2 years ago (this week) at 14 weeks with our last chance IVF.  I am so connected to Christa, Tuff Girl and fighting for her daughter Lea.

At Tuff Girl, we are raising money to help support Lea. I am going to do 1,000 jam ball slams/kettlebell swings, 500 hundred squats and 250 push-ups. I have 30 days to do them. That means:
33 jam ball slams/kettlebell swings per day
16 weighted squats per day
10 push ups per day
Plus a few extra to equal the total
I don't go every day- so I may not make it- but I'm going to try.
I am sponsoring myself BUT would be more then happy if anyone would like to also sponsor me. Yes, there are all kinds of fundraisers happening for causes right now. But this one is personal. And I'm going to work my butt off for it. You can do a flat fee or per rep. All the money goes to the medical bills for Lea Doran.
