Because we firmly believe that there is nothing better than a quality education, Alibi X Foundation and TDMG promotions have joined together to host a school supplies drive for the students at Kipp Academy (Sunnyside) in Houston, TX. For the past several months, young adult members from these two groups have been mentoring the youth at Kipp Sunnyside, providing character building lessons and exposure to encourage the youth of tomorrow to think as a collective, with creativity, and compassion. These mentors have seen first-hand the need for school supplies at Kipp.
With education, a child’s possibilities are endless, enabling them to grow up into doctors, lawyers, and community leaders, to name a few. However, children cannot receive a quality education without the necessary supplies. Little things such as paper, pens, notebooks, and calculators, which many of us took for granted in having as we were younger, are very difficult for many children at this school to buy on their own. That’s where you come in.
Our goal is to send off at least 18 kids with backpacks full of new school supplies for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year. With either a donation of actual school supplies or a monetary donation, you will become an essential part to a child’s journey to success. With a donation of $40, you will be able to provide a middle school student with school supplies to last them an entire year, including a backpack. These school supplies include folders, pencils, pens, highlighters, scientific calculators, binders, notebooks, etc. Even if you are only able to donate $1, every little bit helps! Without your help, some students won’t have the supplies needed to excel in school. If these children do not get the education they need and deserve, it will be difficult to fulfill their highest potential. We need to invest in the education of our future leaders and make them the best they can be. If we want to see our community succeed, we must first begin with educating our youth. Please help us and change a child’s life for the better!
This drive was envisioned by mentors from both organizations, young men who are well-educated, and who are preparing themselves for success in the career fields of medical science, religious studies, and politics. Together, the mentors and mentees work to learn about current world issues, various career opportunities, and important qualities needed to achieve educational, career, emotional, physical, and overall life success. The boys are also taught techniques to help them focus on their goals and learn to be disciplined about achieving them. They also enjoy group outings, fully funded by the two organizations, to the movies, the arcade, the paintball field (pictured below), restaurants, etc. where these kids can learn the importance of comradery and having fun.
With your help, we seek to make a change in an underserved community here in Houston. Help us build the next generation of leaders by preparing them for educational success!
