On Wednesday December 27th, my daughter in law and son were involved in a horrific snowmobile accident in New Hamburg, ON.
Where she lost control of the sled and crashed into a tree head on
As a result of this accident and her many injuries, my D.I.L had to be air lifted to the trauma unit at Hamilton General.
Alcohol was not a factor as they were just out on a family excursion sleding and tobogganing with their kids and cousins who witnessed the crash.
Their 11 yr old daughter and 4 yr old where traumtized and are now in the care of a grandparent.
Kim has a long road of recovery with her jaw not ony broken but the bones are shattered so titaumin plates will be required to start reconstruction of her face and jaw.
The Oral Surgeon informed us that she will also need to have a tracheotomy to help with her breathing passage as he will try to get her jaw and mouth back to how it was prior to the accident or as close as he can and will try to save any teeth that were not damaged but as it looks she will need all new teeth.
These 2 just got married in July 2017 and were starting their lives together as a family and this has now put a damper on things. Kim is expected to be in recovery for a min 12-14 weeks.
Kim finished school in nursing in 2013 and was a casual/part time on call nurse at nursing homes in Kitchener and Guelph.
My Son works fulll time at Mr Lube in Kitchener
but both their jobs dont offer any sort of coverage for dental work that Kim requires.
They will both be off work for awhile and thats why I am asking the public, family and friends for any sort of donation to help off set some of the medical expenses.
We now know implant teeth cost anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 per tooth so for a full rebuild of the mouth they are looking at $45,000-$90,000.
