Friends & Family I am sadly writing this to all of you to let you know that I have cancer. Yep, SUCKS! If you know me, you know I am special. That wacky loud over the top hyper crazy do anything probably been on your nerves special.
Well now I am even more special.
I HAVE A SPECIAL KIND OF CANCER....MY CANCER IS BADASS !!!
It's Name Is: Poorly Differentiated Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Pancreas. For short: Small Cell Carcinoma of Pancreas (SCCP) It's Story: Small-Cell Carcinoma of the Pancreas is a rare and aggressive tumor with a high metastasis rate. Only 1% of all primary pancreatic neoplasms are small-cell carcinomas and 4% of all small-cell carcinomas have an extra-pulmonary origin. In a review of all published cases of SCCP, 91% were metastatic at the time of initial diagnosis, it is a very rare entity, accounting for approximately 1000 new cases each year in the U.S., or for 0.1-0.4% of all malignancies. Involvement of the pancreas has only been described in a few case reports (7-9). It typically affects elderly men, with a mean age of 63 years, but cases as young as 24 years have been reported (4-6). Long-term survival in patients with SCCP is poor, with a median survival of 3 months, to a year.
So that is my news. It was very hard for me to post this. It was very hard to tell Friends & Family. This has been a very difficult reality to accept and I am battling to live everyday.
It has just been since May my first symptoms even occurred and today at only 39 years old I am declared disabled. I am no longer the Kimberley I or you know. I am already very sick and have began my battle of just surviving already. I hope to be given the opportunity to go to Nashville for a Clinical Trial to help Oncologist educate themselves on this rare cancer and find a better treatment to fight it, it is my best hope for a longer life & the next person who sadly is diagnosed. I am going to battle this, I am a fighter, however it will win. I'm also a single mom who is paycheck to paycheck getting by, & without any life insurance. This GoFundMe account started for Myself and My Beautiful Son Beckham is very much needed & appreciated.
