Kidney for Manny

Hello, my name is Jennifer Whynot. I have a story very dear to my heart I would like to share with you.
In 2010, Manny Pacheco and I found out that we were expecting our son, Grayson. As many of us do, he decided to take out a life insurance policy as standard precaution. We were 38 and 49, at that time. When the insurance company answered him with his results, it was in the form of a denial letter. That was the first time we heard 'kidney disease/renal failure", associated with him. Off to the doctor’s office he went, for a second opinion. After their tests, they too confirmed that he was in stage four kidney disease. He was placed on dialysis, three times a week, in December of 2011. After being on dialysis for a while, he was encouraged to complete a "to do" list of tests, so that he could be considered for the national transplant list to wait in line for a kidney. The average wait on this list is 3-4 years.
We were notified of the transplant list being an option for Manny last year. I decided that I would offer to donate my kidney to him if I were a match. They told me that I would have to wait to be cross-matched until he was actually accepted and listed on the list. I went through the majority of the tests and found that I am a match! I only have a couple more tests/tasks to undergo and then we will have the green light to schedule surgery, eliminating the long wait for a kidney to be found for him!
We need to raise $10,000. The $10,000 is to cover his first couple months of the rejection drugs, additional medications, labs, co-pays, follow-ups and transportation to and from the hospital. He will be required to take the medications for the rest of his life to ensure the safety of his new kidney, but this money will help to get started.
We want to keep him around for many, many years to come! He is dearly loved by many. His children Michael, Ashley, Grayson, their spouses Anna, Shane & his grandchildren, Zoey and Aden are the apples of his eye! We cannot imagine our lives without him. We love him very much!
