Hello, my name is Lauren Shipley and I am headed back to Kenya, Africa for the summer! Last July, I went there with a mission team from Seacoast Church who partners with Bread of Life (breadoflifeafrica.com) and I am SO excited to go back for three months to intern with them! Last summer we finished building a church, did hut to hut evangelism, vacation bible school for the kids, etc.
The village I went to and will be returning to is in Turkana, Kenya. It is completely out in the middle of the desert, a place that was unreached before Bread of Life went there several years ago. So far they have built two buildings in two separate villages, each serving as a school and a church. They've also built a medical clinic. Bread of Life is bringing education to the kids of these villages in Turkana and is also bringing the hope of Christ. In many ways Bread of Life is helping these people sustain life by planting a well, providing food as part of the children's sponsorship, etc. I fell in love with Africa while I was there and even more so as I was able to come home and take it all in. As an intern I will be living alongside the Turkanans. My goal will be to serve them in every way possible and to show them Christ's love. I will be able to help out at the school also which I am so excited about! The kids are so full of life and love, you can't be around them and not be full of joy!
In saying all of this, I need some help with the funding! When deciding to go back to Kenya, money was a huge thing that kept crossing my mind as impossible. But as I learned with my fundraising for my mission trip this past summer, God will always provide for things that are in His Will and I know Him putting this on my heart was no mistake. So I am asking YOU to join in getting me back to Kenya! Whether by prayer or by donation! I have felt God tugging on my heart ever since I got back and He has laid it on my heart to go back and to love and serve them for three months. Thanks so much for your support!!
