Keeping Sara Strong
Donation protected
After three months of remission from rhabdomyosarcoma—which fewer than 400 adults have been diagnosed with in 20 to 30 years—Sara Stone faces a recurrence that puts her in a second and even bigger battle for her life. Sara, who is only 36 years old, and her husband, Brian, are now confronted with mounting expenses; decreasing short-term disability insurance, vacation days, and income; and no long-term disability insurance, which will just add to their fight. Their most immediate expense is about 30 days in a hotel and hospital hospitality house to allow Sara to stay close to Milwaukee’s Froedtert Cancer Center for daily radiation treatments as well as chemo. Estimated costs for lodging, meals, and Go Fund Me fees are $2,500, so that is our goal. Should we exceed that, we know anything over and above will be of great help in the future, when Sara and her family are trekking back and forth to Milwaukee for continued chemo treatments.
Like most of us, Sara does not like to ask for help, so we are doing it for her. Let’s band together to lessen some of the financial burden on the Stones so they can focus on what’s most important—Sara’s fight for more time on this earth with everyone she loves.
