Berkeley Playhouse needs your help!
Berkeley Playhouse creates theater and programs that engage, ignite, and celebrate diverse Bay Area audiences through a thriving conservatory, a professional season, and educational outreach. We also maintain and enhance the historic Julia Morgan Theater. A commitment to community, diversity, inclusion, and empowerment is at the heart of our work.
Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought all sources of revenue screeching to a halt. Our knockout hit show, MEMPHIS, closed a week early, tenants are not filling our studios, our highly anticipated production of IN THE HEIGHTS has been cancelled altogether and our award-winning youth programs (classes, camps, and YouthStage productions) have been moved to an online education model for the time being.
We are artists and creators, so we are resourceful! Our classes continue online with lively remote sessions and our youth productions are finding new and very creative ways to engage and rehearse the casts of YouthStage GUYS & DOLLS and BECOMING ROBIN HOOD.
Our wonderful community of theatergoers, whom we consider to be family, continue to fill our hearts with messages of love and hope. Some have shown their support for the theater by way of generous donations and many others have turned their tickets into tax-deductible donations to our nonprofit theater. Your donation helps with artist fees, as we employ well over 200 Bay Area artists every season.
Please consider a donation today so that we may continue to create quality musical theater for you tomorrow! No amount is too large or too small, and any amount helps. We truly are all in this together and Berkeley Playhouse needs your help to assure that we will once again open our doors to welcome our community back into our home.
