Karla is a 57 year old, independent, energetic, funny, intelligent, loving wife and a caring mother of 4 children. She is a wonderful grandmother of 4 beautiful grandchildren.
Karla has spent her life’s work taking care of others who are unable to care for themselves. If Karla is in the room you will know it with her infectious laughter that lights up the room. She always has advice and is ready to listen to your troubles. Karla is the first person to offer her help and the last person to ask.
We as her family are asking for help.
Karla suffered a sudden stroke when she was kayaking on Saturday June 21, 2014. She is in NICU at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She is fighting her way back to her family. She will need 24hr care and a long road of rehab where she will need to relearn how to eat, talk, walk and read. She is a very strong willed women and a fighter. We believe with God’s help she will be back to the mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend we all know and love.
This is a humbling experience for us all and we are asking for monetary donations. This money will help with care for Karla and the expenses that will accrue while she is recovering. Her loving husband has not and will not leave her side and is currently on unpaid family leave from his employer.
Karla has a wonderful support system in Florida, However her daughter lives in New York and her one son lives in Pittsburgh PA. This is emotionally and finically difficult when they have to leave their mother and try to fly back to visit.
