Please Help Kristina

My daughter Kristina turned 27 in July. She had goals,
ambitions, dreams and ideas of who and what she wanted to become. Her path in
life was drastically changed forever the evening of February 9, 2013.
I have 10 children. Kristina is my second child. She was always there for me to help with her younger siblings. If I would need her, she dropped everything to do what she could for me.
Kristina was hospitalized for 3 weeks with acute colitis. She was discharged home and still not feeling well. She went between her apartment and our home to be with me to recover and then back to her apartment to be with her 2 cats, who she adored and treated like princesses! I thank God that 9 days after her discharge, she was at our home. On February 9th, I went in to see how she was doing and found her unresponsive. I am a Nurse Practitioner and years of CPR training have been instilled in me, but one would never imagine that one would have to try to bring life back to their own daughter.
Miraculously, Kristina's heart started again, but we were told in the ER that there was a good chance she still would not pull through that night. Her dad (my husband) and I were in shock. How could this be happening to our beautiful daughter who was so full of life and ambition. For the first 2 weeks my husband and I were with her 24/7.
We were told that she has a lot of brain damage/atrophy to her brain from the lack of oxygen when she suffered her heart attack.
One week after her heart attack, one of her neurologists told us we should consider taking her off of life support. This was so devastating to get that kind of news and we were in shock. The next day, the same neurologist told us, "yes, there is a lot of damage but she has a "˜young' brain and I've seen miracles." She advised us to give our daughter more time; we were all for that. I knew God had a plan-- she had been at our house, not alone at her apartment when I found her unresponsive and she was still with us.
We were told that she would never get off of her ventilator--- well, guess what-- in May she was breathing all on her own!! Kristina still has a Tracheostomy (breathing tube in her neck) and still on oxygen. She tries to communicate/talk to us and when I ask her to smile, she gives me a smile that just melts my heart and makes my day! I know she is still recovering and I know there is a long road ahead for all of us.
She has always been a determined, stubborn, strong-willed child. My husband and I feel strongly that her personality has pulled her through all the infections and setbacks she has endured.
We are trying to get her to a facility near San Diego for specialized brain treatment. She will need to travel there by a medevac flight, which will cost us $30,000. The treatment itself (not covered by insurance) is $22,000. I would do anything and everything for any of my children. Kristina is still with us. I am her mother and I have to do this special treatment. Please help us get Kristina her brain treatment! PLEASE HELP OUR DAUGHTER.
