After fighting for the last 8 years Karen's lung disease, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), has come to a head. Currently waiting for a double lung transplant, life has become and will continue to be a challange.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a type of lung disease that results in scarring (fibrosis) of the lungs for an unknown reason. Over time, the scarring gets worst and it becomes hard to take in a deep breath and the lungs cannot take in enough oxygen. There is no cure for IPF.
Medical costs, accommodations, drugs, travel and medical equipment are adding up.
Once Karen gets her phone call for a new set of lungs there will be extra living expences (living in Edmonton while healing) as well as a lifetime of medications, many not covered by bennifits or Alberta Health Care.
We pray every day for this miricle so Karen can resume an active life as a mother, grandmother and loving wife.
