I come to you to seek support in the next phase of my life.
I'm participating in Dev Bootcamp Chicago, a 19-week Intensive Coding Program that will help me blossom into the geek-butterfly that we all know I can be!

I'm participating in Dev Bootcamp Chicago, a 19-week Intensive Coding Program that will help me blossom into the geek-butterfly that we all know I can be!
How you can help
DONATE!: I've been able to secure funding for tuition, but I need to raise the deposit and money for cost of living during the program (I will be enduring 50-70 hour weeks, and will not be able to work)
If you cannot contribute monetarily (and really, even $10 would help, people!!)
LYFT me up!: Spreading the word about LYFT (either as a new rider, or becoming a new DRIVER!) and using my code: KARA227 will help me raise funds as well!
Here's why I want to attend Dev Bootcamp:
For much of my life, I've found myself in the "techie" seat of the table, whether that be my family table, my social table, my community table or my work table. I believe that not only do I owe it to myself to further my knowledge and be equipped to engage with what makes the web work, but I owe it to the people at those tables that call me to sit, teach, be present, innovate, and amplify our voices. I do believe that I can do just that through this program.
With the education and mentorship gained from this immersive experience I will be able to activate my ability to put my ideas and the ideas of others into the world in a real way. I know that this program not only gives you the hard skills of a developer, but also the soft skills needed to thrive in intense environments.
I am also very aware of what it would mean for Dev Bootcamp to have a Queer Person of Color in the cohort. It not only challenges me to be prepared for the Tech industry's largely homogenous environment, but it also challenges those in my cohort to consider their place in the world, and how to relate, work with, and appreciate the inclusion that the industry is slowly moving towards. Last, it allows for the youth that I currently work with, and others who identify with the many identities I represent, to see someone in this field of work, making it happen. Which is a reason to apply, all in itself.
