Thank you so much for your support, prayers, donations, and help! God bless!
I started this GoFundMe page because I have been struggling to fund this trip. I have been saving for month and with only 2 months until I go, I am getting nervous. I do work and go to school full time, I honestly cannot remember the last time I had was not employed. I am involved in a International Exchange Program called, MyPlace at Ferris State University to help raise funds.
I have many reasons for wanting to go on this study abroad trip. I want to see the world as much as possible. Life is incredibly short and I have had this realization after losing some close friends in the past couple years. I want to be able to look back on my life when I am 80 and say that I did everything I wanted to. This trip will be one of the things I will always remember when I look back on my life. I will also take pride in being able to say I was in an extremely humbling situation. When I go to Costa Rica I will be completely out of my comfort zone, and I look forward to growing as a person!
Some of the things I will be doing:
-living with host families
-going to banana and coffee plantations
-going to Volcano Arenal
-touring the capital
-studying hispanic cinema
-studying spanish culture
-and much more :)
I am a junior, but technically a SENIOR, at Ferris State University, finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a Spanish minor a year early! In order to complete my degree a year early, I have decided to study abroad for two weeks in Costa Rica. I work part-time at a nursing home and during my college breaks as a server; however, I will not make enough to support this trip, my apartment, and school. Anything you can contribute would be extremely appreciated!
I am from a small town in Michigan and I love it here. I am twenty years old, soon to be twenty-one in February! I like to think I am a very simple girl :) I enjoy crafts! I make cork projects currently and I am thinking about adding pallet furniture to my crafts. I also like to cook, hunt, and read.
My long term dream is to become a nurse. I will be starting nursing school within the next year or two. I would love to work with Severely/Moderately Cognitively Impaired children when I become a nurse, or work in a pediatric/neonatal unit. Working at the nursing home has made me really realize what I was called to do. I cannot fully explain the feeling I get when I see a smile on my residents' faces and I would like to continue to help others.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me!
