It takes a village

If you have never met Kai-Lyn, let me tell you a little about her and you will understand the impact a study abroad opportunity would have on her life. Kai-Lyn loves learning like no one I have ever known.  She has been a straight A student since starting school, she was skipped a grade in elementary and placed in the gifted program in middle school.  Last year her PSAT scores were in the 99th percentile.

Now that she has entered her freshman year of highschool she has had two of her 9th grade classes replaced with upper classes. She takes 10th grade honors math (Algrebra 2) and was recently placed in 10th grade Spanish 1.  The Spanish class will have a study abroad opportunty this summer taking the class for 10 days in Paris and Spain. The trip will be filled with culture, arts and learning.

Kai-Lyn is more then a smart girl she has the biggest heart. Kai-Lyn wants to go to USC and major in Industrial Engineering. This trip could be life changing. Traveling is one of the most valuable means of learning but many children are not afforded the opportunity.

So here is the other thing. I have recently undergone a series of unexpected medical treatments that have left me financially strained. In July I went to the doctor about a cough. I still don't know what is causing the cough but over the span of 2 months I visited the doctor almost once a week for some new concern or new discovery that needed to be explored or treated. Turns out I had been walking around with a Hemoglobin of 5. Just pushing through life. I was literally dying and had no idea how close I was to a heart attack. I recieved two iron infusions which carried me until I could have surgery to treat the underlying issue. I under went a myomectomy that removed an astonishing 33 tumors from my uterus (Super Yikes). The surgery that was scheduled 3 hours went on for up to 9 hours. There were complications but in the end the surgery was successful. I am still recovering. The surgeon told my family and loved ones that he's never seen anything like it and that he performed of 20,000 surgeries....this was his most difficult.

Unfortunately, the out of pocket medical costs has forced me to choose between medical debt and providing my child who is so deserving an opportunity to see more then I have ever seen. Soooo I am asking for anything you can give to help. She just needs 100 friends to give $40 to make a dream happen.

We have 30 days to raise the deposit of 600.00 and the rest can be paid over time until February 2018.

Really, anything you can give will make a difference. I don't even know how to thank you for giving her this chance.
