Kabul Bleeds, Toronto Aches

Donation protected

On Wednesday May 31st, 2017 as Kabul residents were making their way to daily commitments, they were attacked with a massive explosion in a highly secure diplomatic area. This explosive killed 90 (number not yet confirmed) and left wounding as many as 400. The beautiful streets of our Kabul were left in mayhem and destruction. The victims were innocent civilians, a father, a mother, son, daughter, husband, wife, cousin, friend, or colleague.

No group or persons have claimed responsibility for this heinous act of terrorism. So, although we can continue to ask ourselves how a human being is capable of killing another, we can come together, standing in solidarity with the individuals who were impacted by this event. Afghan or not, Muslim or non-Muslim, humanity does not segregate. It’s a matter of looking within our hearts and truly feeling the pain, anguish, and frustration of those influenced because of this bombing.

The Afghan Student's Association of York University are a group of young Afghan professionals who are looking to provide relief to the victims of the Kabul attack. Working along side Farida Kawoon and Pakeeza Barekzai, we hope to reach our goal of $10,000 CAD as soon as possible. The focus of our initiative is to provide assistance to the victim’s family members who are in frantic need of assistance in this difficult time. In direct contact with our source in Kabul, Farida Kawoon, we have compiled a list of victims, and their family members in which this money will go to. In addition, we will be providing aid to the wounded; many who are in life-threatening conditions and in desperate need of medication and surgery. We will be sending the money directly to Farida Kawoon in Kabul who will then ensure they reach the victim's family members.

Ramadan is a month of forgiveness, mercy and unconditional unity. It’s our fardh, obligatory duty, to provide relief to those in need. Please look within your beautiful hearts and soul, and donate what you can. It is never about the amount; rather it’s your intention behind it. As with every case, your intentions are for the sake of Allah. Your kindness and generosity reaches families who are emotionally broken and financially stressed. However, if you’re not able to help out financially, another way you can assist is by remembering the lives lost in your prayers along with sharing this fundraiser. Love, support, and being unified is what can, and will, help every victim of war. This is an urgent cry for help; please act now in anyway you can.

Allah is The All-Merciful, The All-Knowing, and The Healer. We place our blind trust in Him and His plan, for he knows what is best for us, while we know not.

Feel free to contact Farhad Ahmad and Pakeeza Barekzai for any questions or concerns. We are also open to accepting e-transfers from anyone who feels comfortable.

Jazāk Allāhu Khayran, may Allah reward you with goodness.
