Mom Dot's Medical Fund

Letter from Don:

Hello Family and Friends,

I don’t know where to start but to tell you that my Mom is the reason I am on this earth living and healthy! But this story is not about me, it’s about her. My Mom is one of the kindest and most loving woman I know. She has always fought the odds to put food in my mouth and clothes on my back as a single mother.  She always fought for my needs in school and worked tooth and nail to provide me with a roof over my head.  She has stood up and fought against abusive relationships in her life.  She would give her last dollar to those who need it most.  As a kid growing up, I didn’t understand this act of kindness displayed by my Mom.  We would be hurting trying to make ends meet but my mom would do this with no hesitation, stating that they need it more than us.  As her only child, she would always do things for me and as far as I can recall not do anything for herself.  I remember one day when we were at the beach there were gunmen on a shooting rampage.  My Mom immediately ran for me and wrapped her body around me to shield me from harm.   There are many moments where my Mom displayed this selfless act of courage and love to protect me from harm.  This little 4’11’’ woman (She always tells me 5’) was always ready to give her life to save mine. She would look Death straight in the eye and say, “not my boy!” (She would use some F expletive of course).  That is my Mom! A sweet, gentle, loving, caring and selfless person, not just to me, but to all she comes into contact with.   But she can be a badass, kickass, and little brown fighting machine if you mess with her family or anyone she loves and cares about!

For those of you that know my Mom, you know that what I’m saying is a serious understatement in my part and deserves a greater epic descriptor of who she is! Now my Mom has another battle she has to face and needs all our help, because this is a battle for her life!  My Mom is battling FUCKING CANCER!  She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer.  I know my Mom is a fighter but this is the biggest battle of her life.  So to all my friends and family and to those of you that know my Mom, I humbly ask for your help with giving my Mom a fighting chance! Please help me strengthen her spirit and help her look Death in the eye again and say “FUCK YOU CANCER!”  I apologize for the explicit language but I know what my Mom would say, and she would say it better with a few more choice words.  As of now, I don’t have any further details on a full prognosis or when treatment will begin.  I’ll provide updates as soon as I get them.  Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in her fight.  My family and I will forever be grateful for your support.  Thank you very much.
