Five Surgeries and a Feeding Tube

Donation protected

LaJuanda needs assistance by August 8th due to her inability to work because of extensive medical issues.

In October 2016 LaJuanda weighed 184lbs on the day of her first surgery. She had four surgeries in the span of 10 days! She was in the hospital for a month. The left side of her colon was removed. She has been unable to work but she is very grateful for having long term disability through her job.

During Thanksgiving 2016 she was taken into emergency due to shortness of breath. To her surprise she was diagnosed with two blood clots in both lungs. This left her devastated and depressed.
She has been seen by one doctor or another every week since October 2016. Her last surgery was in February 2017 for a colon reversal. Since this surgery she has been in the hospital every month fighting infection after infection.

Her current weight is 115 pounds and is constantly dropping. Since her last surgery she loses 3lbs a week because of no digestion. She told me, “I cringe every time I have to step on the scale because I keep losing weight. People tell me they wish they could lose weight but I wish I could gain. No one should want to lose weight like this. Sometimes I cry because to me I look so disfigured.”

Last week she was discharged from the hospital with the news that her pancreas is not digesting her food. She has lost so much weight that she is now close to only 100 pounds. She must now go in next week for a feeding tube because she is unable to get enough nutrition on her own.

Due to these long-standing medical issues her savings has been depleted. She had no idea she would be out of work this long on disability. She needs assistance in paying her rent for the next two months:
The first half of this goal is needed by August 8th in order to pay August rent.  The second half will go toward September's rent and is needed by September 3rd. The goal amount is calculated for two months of rent and late fees plus GFM fees.

Through all the surgeries, stress, pain, and fears she tries to keep a positive outlook. In her own words…

“I am looking to the hills for whence cometh my help."

“God did not bring me through...5 surgeries, 3 blood transfusions, from not walking to walking again, to enduring a 7 inch incision that was just left open to drain infection for 4 months in excruciating pain while nurses dig in my wound three times a week, for me to just give up now! I couldn’t dress myself or stand up long enough to shower on my own. Lord, what a humbling experience!”

Her young daughter has been her angel! She has been there with her every step of the way caring for her as much as she knew how. LaJuanda thanks and praises the Lord for the strength of her child. She says, “This has been a very trying time for my family.”

Being her family member I can attest to LaJuanda's strength, and endurance. She tries to not let her illness show by keeping a smile on her face. Many of us have no idea the struggles others go through until we are forced to travel their path. Keep your faith LaJuanda. Your healing is on the way!

Any assistance you are led to give is very much appreciated. She not only need financial assistance but she needs your prayers for her life and any suggestions that could help guide her through this wilderness.
