Pearls of Wisdom Library Project
Donation protected
Founded in 2011, Pearls of Wisdom is a small not for profit organisation that provides care, education & a place to call home for vulnerable & orphaned children in central rural Uganda
In early 2016 Pearls of Wisdom added a small library to the project. After a donation of over 2000 books was recieved locally through Grassroots Uganda, in partnership with MITEO. Initially a simple library was fashioned in one half of an old 40ft sea container that was being used as a storeroom. So it was with a few simple shelves & banana mats on the floor that the Nakiwaate Community Library first opened
As word spread about the new library & all the learning resources available. The number of visitors coming each week quickly grew. As did the local communities desire & support to have the library expand & grow
Over the past twelve months, through the support of many, active fundraising & in collaboration with the community. A pitched roof has been constructed to help cool the container & a 12ft deep full length verandah added. To comfortably accomodate the library user's under shade/shelter from the harsh African sun
At this time we are looking to try & raise $5000 to fund the work still to be completed. As well as the painting, furnishing & addition of more shelving, books & educational resources for the Nakiwaate Community Library & Learning Centre
We hope that you will consier this project worthy of your support & DONATE TODAY to help us reach our goal
*Should we reach our goal before the end of April, this work will be carried out during May & June when the next volunteer team will be on project
Thanks to a partnership with Longhorn Publishers Uganda. Our library carries two copies of every text for each subject in the Ugandan Curriculmn & the corresponding teaching guides, for O'level & A'level
Invaluable resources for both students & teacher's a like
in this poor & disadvantaged community. The opportunity to be able to access these resources means better results & better futures for the communities youth. Helping in turn to break the whole communities cycle of poverty
PLEASE DONATE TODAY & HELP US COMPLETE THE NAKIWAATE COMMUNITY LIBRARY & LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE
Thank you for considering donating & supporting the completion of this much needed community project
No donation is ever considered to small, as we are committed to making EVERY DOLLAR COUNT ;)
Please feel free to SHARE this fundraising campaign with family & friends that may also be interested to support the project
