Jordan Watters for Trustee in SD61

Donation protected
Help Jordan Watters take her advocacy for fully funded public education in BC to the next level as she runs for Trustee in Greater Victoria School District 61. Throughout the ongoing labour dispute, Jordan has been a strong voice in support of teachers, students, and the principles of democracy. Jordan wants to continue contributing to the community by being a progressive voice for change at the School Board. To get there, she is going to need our help!

A Grassroots Campaign
Crowd-sourcing is an innovative way to reach out to supporters, and make sure Jordan has the funding to run a successful campaign. This online fundraiser is focused on getting her started with the basic elements for a smart and pro-active election campaign.

Fully Funded Public Education: A Core Value

I will work to achieve the following:

1. Open and Responsive School District Governance
Trustees are elected officials with a duty to act in the interest of democracy, fostering an open and responsive relationship with the public, and advocating for the needs of each student and the school district courageously and honestly.

2. Appropriate Class Sizes and Compositions
Appropriate class sizes and compositions reinforce the principle of inclusion in public education and allow the unique needs of students to be met. Funding is required to provide equitable supports for students and their teachers.

3. Enhanced Access to Specialist Teachers & Support Staff
Eliminating or restricting student access to specialist teachers and the diverse programming they provide impoverishes the quality of education students receive.

4. Improved Child and Youth Mental Health Supports
Public education has a duty to help students dealing with bullying, abuse, anxiety, mental illness, substance abuse and other challenges.
