Help John Trull Fight Cancer!
Within the last few weeks, John Trull has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer -- specifically Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The tumor is on the side of his head and in the ear area. The cancer is in the facial nerves as well as the lymph nodes and the pressure from the tumor has caused facial paralysis, which was originally thought to be Bell's Palsy. He's receiving treatment in MD Anderson in Houston and the medical team has a recommended an intensive course of action that will involve surgery and recovery over the Christmas Holiday Season.
He'll enter pre-op on Dec. 14 and then on Dec. 18, a 3 unit surgical team is coming together to remove the tumor, the lymph nodes and address any and all parts of the head area impacted by the cancer. After 7 - 10 days at the hospital in recovery, John will go home to Leesville and then come back to Houston in January to start an aggressive form of daily radiation (a total of 30 treatments) which will require a 6 week stay in Houston for John & Ann near the hospital. Pending the results of the surgery, chemotherapy may be coupled with the radiation.
We have created this GoFundMe Page to help John & Ann with some of the expenses around travel and hotels for the coming surgery, in-hospital recovery and as well as the radiation treatments. The waiting lists for the hospitality apartments are quite long and they've added their name but any consideration of any help is greatly appreciated.
It's hard to make this request and it's not done lightly but travel back and forth daily will be impossible so accommodations will need to be made for hotels (or a short term lease apt), meals and as well as the travel to and from Houston for the pre-ops, surgery and eventually the road home. The family is working with the hospital to take advantage of any and all charity offerings that are available but as you can imagine, the hospital is overwhelmed with similar requests and there are no guarantees.
