John B. Morgan Memorial Scholarship

My grandfather, John B. Morgan, was truly an amazing man.  He did so much for me and his family, but it wasn't until his death at 93 years old that I fully realized just how many people he had a significant positive effect on.  There were so many people who came to the visitation and funeral that referenced Grampa as THE person that they owed for what they had today.  He was the first person they met when they moved into town.  He even convinced my Mom to stay in Waupaca, and eventually she met my Dad and the rest is history.

Grampa, a WWII veteran, taught Industrial Arts at Waupaca High School from 1947 until he retired in 1985. During that time, he developed the Central Wisconsin Vocational Education Program that served five local school districts. He was the first area coordinator for Fox Valley Technical College in Waupaca, and served in that capacity for 30 years. He also developed and conducted the Waupaca Foundry Training Program and administered it for 31 years. Grampa was also a designer, and designed several local private homes and some commercial buildings – most notably Stange’s of Waupaca, the Accelerated Learning Center, and the layout of South Park.

With my family's support, I want Grampa's legacy to live on.  I am establishing an account to fund the "John B. Morgan Memorial Scholarship" at the Waupaca High School.  The scholarship will be awarded annually to the student chosen as most deserving by the Waupaca Scholarship Foundation, who has taken electives in manufacturing or fabrication, has been accepted into an accredited college or technical school, and is pursuing an education in manufacturing, especially wood manufacturing and processes.  The scholarship will first be awarded in the spring of 2017.

I believe that we have enough family support to annually fund the scholarship with $500 each year.  I'm hoping to raise at least $2,500 with this fundraiser, so that we can award a $1,000 scholarship for at least the first five years!

If you're able, I would so very much appreciate your generosity in helping me achieve this goal.  If we reach the goal of at least $2,500 with this campaign, I'll personally guarantee that the scholarship will be $1,000 per year for at least 10 years.  Thank you all so much for your consideration.
