John's Hips Don't Lie

Most of you already know John Malone but for those of you who don't, he's a cheeky little devil who lightens the hearts of many with his voice and his whit. Rain or shine, he sings/plays guitar on the NYC bar scene and thousands of us are lucky enough to call him our friend. It is out of friendship and love that we're starting this page. John recently began having pain in his legs and after a multitude of appointments was finally diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis in both of his hips. Avascular Necrosis is essentially when your blood flow is impeeded to an area(s) & eventually the cells/tissues/bones that were dependent on those vessels die. This condition is only really seen in a handful of situations, none of which John fit. The shear odds of this happening are astounding & as a medical professional I'm at a loss in how someone so bitchin could get so unlucky. The honest truth is John won't be able to walk from the pain of his bones/joints collapsing. The damage is irreparable, save for surgery. John will need bilateral hip replacement sooner than later. After everything is said & done, all of his medical bills will cost ~$100,000 & the earliest he can get surgery will be 6-8 weeks from now.  This isn't something pain killers and physical therapy will fix, surgery is John's only hope of living a functional life going forward. The irony is that if this were anyone else, John would be the first person to volunteer his guitar to help fund raise. If all the people who John has affected in a positive fashion contribute, we'll have no problem achieving our goal in getting him back on his feet.  There's no better thing you can do than helping a friend in need, so please find it in your hearts to give to a great cause & help John Malone get his groove back.
