Jen's fight for women's rights!

Donation protected

My name is Jennifer Mien Mien Lin and I am a Taiwanese-Canadian  photographer in NYC, currently raising money for two social advocacy projects.

I believe it is my civic duty to be a voice to the voiceless.

Given my history growing up in East Asia  where my worth as a girl growing up  was often marginizalized, children's and women's rights along with education are causes that are deeply important to me.

They motivate me to create discourses with my photographs. I believe it is my life's work to bring awareness of these issues to people globally.

There are two main ways that the money raised from this campain will be used.

Money raised from this campaign will allow me to print and frame my photographs, create promotional materials, and get me on a plane to Frankfurt, Germany, where I've been given the opportunity to exhibit my work at the Haus Am Dom.

This month  will allow me to spread awareness on the importance of  education and women's rights on a global basis to Germany, where the country is currently experiencing a major influx of  refugees, a majority of which are women and children. It is a vital time in 2016 to  emphasize human rights and integration in Germany.

Together with  Keep the World foundation and ACC Art Management, your donations will help me show  a month long exhibiton ending with an Auction  of my photographs where I documented the lives of girls and boys who are the children of poverty-level migrant workers, and also my fine art work in the past 5 years.

Here is a link to a short documentary I made of the experience called " A Day in the life of a girl"  Short Documentary I made: "A Day in the Life" https://vimeo.com/107821550

Proceeds will go to charity and fund my following project.

The second project that the proceeds of this campaign will fund is that I am currently research a project this summer : “The Lost Generation: Portraits of Chinese Women who were former Child Orphans”; this will  be the most significant advocacy photographic endeavor of my career to date.

My primary goal for this project is to create Photographic Portraits and documentation of  Chinese women and teenaged girls who were  child orphans.

I aim to tell their stories and illuminate their struggles and successes.  Ultimately I want to create an anthropological and artistic registry of these women.

I want these portraits of these successful women to serve as role models for the current generation of orphaned young girls. All children, especially girls in these tragic circumstances, need proper role models to give them hope for their futures.

I am deeply grateful to those who will donate to my cause of spreading awareness on women and children's rights in the developing world.

By both exhibiting my Indian Photographs in Germany in September 2016 and beginning my project in China this year, I aim to create a discourse on empowering chidren and women globally, and these two projects will take me powerfully in this direction.
