Jill's story...
In November 2010, at the young age of 28, our friend Jill was diagnosed with breast cancer. In a blink of an eye, her entire world, and ours, changed. She had just finished graduate school, started her career, married the man of her dreams, and discovered she was bringing a baby girl into this world. Jill was 30 weeks pregnant when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Imagine... 28 years old, 7 months pregnant, and hearing those three dreaded words, "You. Have. Cancer."
Over the last year, Jill has completed six months of chemotherapy, 33 rounds of radiation, a double mastectomy along with the removal of 25 lymph nodes. And brought a beautiful, baby girl into this world. We have watched her fight for her life while pregnant and then while caring for a newborn baby. After her last round of radiation, we all hoped this nightmare would be behind her.
However, the tests to follow brought results which were hardly what we hoped, prayed, and wished for. The breast cancer has spread to several spots on her ribs, one on her pelvis, and one on her liver. She is now deemed Stage IV and will battle this cancer for the rest of her life. All we can do is attempt to halt it from growing more and hope to extend her life for as long as possible.
We are praying for a miracle, working for a cure, and supporting our friend through this journey.
