Help Jetta Heal from Lyme Disease

Our dear friend, Jetta DeNend, was diagnosed with late stage Lyme disease two years ago. Jetta suffered for nearly ten years undiagnosed. When this occurs, Lyme disease becomes significantly more difficult to eradicate and can cause irreversible long-term neurological damage. In the years leading up to her Lyme disease diagnosis, Jetta was evaluated by various doctors and specialists trying to make sense of the significant decline in her health. Lyme disease attacks all of the major organs and systems within the body. Due to this, Jetta is currently spending her days bedridden with her eyes closed due to disorientation and pain. Her symptoms include severe fatigue, fever, chills, dizziness, loss of balance, "brain fog", insomnia, mild hallucinations, heart palpitations, shakiness, numbness and nausea. She is unable to work, drive, cook, run errands, regularly communicate or perform simple life tasks.

Recently, Jetta had to move from California into her father's home near Seattle, Washington. She can no longer afford to pay her bills since her medical conditional forced her to step away from her 15 year career as a trade specialist. Jetta has been paying a large portion of her Dr. appointments, treatments, supplements and cost of living on her own since a Lyme disease diagnosis is rarely supported by insurance. The significant financial overhead of living with Lyme for nearly a decade has drained her savings.

Jetta can no longer carry this burden alone and needs help and support. This is where we, her friends, come in. We are now making every effort to raise funds to cover the high costs associated with Jetta's treatment and recovery from Lyme disease. Our hope is to ease her stress so she can focus on healing. Funds raised will go towards Dr. appointments, treatments, groceries and cost of living. Jetta is currently being treated by one of the best Lyme doctors in the country and the treatment costs are high. She is currently spending approximately $2,000 a month on medical expenses alone since insurance covers very little.

Jetta 

Jetta is a dear, childhood friend of mine. I have always admired her drive and determination. She is a self made woman who paid her way through college and worked her way up into a career she loved. She is passionate about whatever she is pursuing, whether it's volunteering for a nonprofit, learning a new language, becoming an amazing salsa dancer or a phenomenal cook. One thing is certain; Jetta puts her heart into wherever her path leads her. The last few years, that path has been all things health related and she has walked through the trenches with vigor. But sadly, there has been little to no return for her efforts. To watch a vivacious 30 something year old friend deteriorate, even through all her determination to get better has been hard. To witness her relentless discipline when addressing her diet, habits, inner dialogue, vulnerability with no defeat to the illness is wearisome. As weak and exhausted as Jetta is, she still talks of the day when she can pursue her passions again. If able, we hope is to make that possible for her.
