School in Morocco

I am approaching my final year of high school.  Because I've knocked out most of my required courses needed in order to graduate, I have decided to travel and study abroad for 13 weeks starting next year in August.  After doing research on these programs, I have decided to do a joint study at two different language institutes, one in Morocco and one in Spain.  The first is an Arabic language school named Dar Loughat in Tetouan, Morroco, where I plan to spend six weeks learning the language.  The second six weeks will be spent in a Lingua school in Salamanca, Spain, where I will advance my Spanish language skills.  

 My goals are to take my first steps in learning Arabic in an authentic and immersed setting, and to further my understanding of Spanish.  Arabic is the native tongue of my grandfather, It is spoken in my extended family and throughout the world, and is an important part of my heritage. I have studied Spanish for 4 years in school, and believe that this program would strengthen my comprehension and conversational skills.

            My plan is to leave mid-August, the start of the new school year, and fly out to Spain.  From there I will travel to Morocco, spend my six weeks learning there.  Afterwards I will travel back to Spain and do the other six weeks of schooling with a week break in between.  I would then return to the U.S. shortly before the start of my high school's second trimester.

            With school and board, airplane tickets, transportation, food, and other costs, the entire trip would cost approximately 5,500 dollars.  I have already raised nearly half of what I need through working and family donations, and I now turn to all of the kind friends and strangers who are willing to donate whatever ammount to my goal.
