Our volunteer trip to Haiti

My goal for 2017 was to give back, take less, and live with compassion. I wish to live my life in a way that models humility, selflessness, and respect for my fellow humans. How can I tell my kids to be amazing humans if I am only average? 

I'm excited to share that Zoë, Maya, and I are heading to Haiti this month on a service trip. The trip is led by Children's Heritage Foundation (CHF). Their mission is to address education, health, economic development, and faith among the families.  

While in Haiti we will spend our days in three orphanages. Our work will include building construction, VBS, skills training, activities for the children, and love.  This is only the beginning for my little family.  We will continue to find ways both in the US and around the world to help, give back, and affect change. 

This trip is about humanity. We are all humans, working together, and (hopefully) looking out for one another. I don't know what this journey will bring to me, to Zoë, or to Maya, but we are open to whatever will be, knowing that we are choosing humanity, love, and compassion.
