Help Jon Sims Stay in School

Hello World. I come to you with open hands, asking for a little help. I need to raise an extra $1,500 to keep me enrolled in graduate school. I am currently attempting to finish my 1st year back into the Screenwriting MFA Program at the Institute for American Indian Art. This is a 2yr residency-style MFA program. Our Spring semester starts January 6th, and I'm short the funds to keep my spot.

I initially started the program 2 yrs ago, but was forced to quit. Why? Well, I was called to serve my community as I was unexpectedly appointed to the position of Tribal Secretary for the Pueblo of Acoma. I gave up my business and my schooling for 2yrs. I also continue to sit on both scholarship committees at the Pueblo of Acoma, as both a member of Governor's Scholarship Committee and as an Acoma Board of Education Member. In both, I specifically advocate for more graduate scholarships. But this also makes me not eligible for any help from our tribe, as it would be a conflict of interest.  

I am focused on becoming a screenwriter, so I can begin to produce my own stories. For years I was a production person on works large and small. I have been freelancing nearly 12 yrs. I feel comfortable with my production abilities after 10yrs, so now it is time to learn a new side of the craft. And OMG, do I have stories to tell! 

I have two children 8yrs old and 3yrs old. I hustle every day to make ends meet.  I've spent the past year rebuilding my book of business after giving it up for my 2yr tribal appointment.

But I've come up just a hair short. I would rather ask the world for small donations, than to go and ask family. And my credit sucks, so the bank is a not an option.
