HARVEY/THE DAVIDSON FAMILY

Donation protected

Hello everyone, My name is Debbie Backlund from South Carolina. One of these pictures show the location "". My friends the Davidsons live about 10 minutes from there, with their 2 children. Here is a link for other pictures:  https://goo.gl/photos/tMM7e2PPgbMAJPE89

They've lost everything, I mean everything. I decided to start this page, even though there are thousands doing the same thing, for one reason. I met Jason in 2002, we both worked at that time, for UND Aerospace in Duluth MN. I might have had the chance to meet Melissa ONCE but wasn't able to develop our friendship. Before I could do that, the day came when they moved to Houston and began their family.

I need to explain why this family means so much to me.

In 2010, when my son Scott entered the end stages of lung disease due to Cystic Fibrosis, we needed to move to TX, because Scott was approved for the transplant program at the University of Texas Medical Branch, just south of Houston in Galveston. I  was urged by another friend of mine, Karon Benson, to contact the Davidsons even though I had not had ANY contact with them since their move. Melissa answered the phone and without ONE, not ONE hesitation in her voice, nothing about having to speak to Jason first, or any other hesitation, she offered her home and her family warmth, to Scott and I. We stayed in their home well over a month, but their support did not stop there, they were with us for over a year as Scott and I progressed through the double lung transplant process. They basically adopted my son and I and never left our sides, never.

To see them so devestatingly affected by this hurricane, renders me devestated as well. Yes, they have insurance, BUT their deductibles leave them with a $15-20,000.00 responsibility due to the policy coverage limits. They will have to replace all appliances-washer/dryer, firdge, stove, dishwasher, possibly their car, water heater, 3 air conditioning units, all kitchen and bath cabinets, all their furniture, dry wall, and flooring. This is the short list as there are other expenses that will no doubt, be incurred, gas for the remaining car, mold removal if necessary, clothing for Jason and Melissa, food, the possible need for a place to stay while the house is "redone" and the list goes on.

I'm reaching out to anyone and everyone I know asking you to help me in the Davidson recovery. Again, I know we all know someone who is somehow affected by this horrible storm. So whatever you can do is so very much appreciated. Their recovery journey begins TODAY, so time is of the essence, PLEASE help me reach the minimum goal of $15,000.

Jason Davidson is the only one that can withdraw from this campaign. So you can be comfortable knowing that I do not have access to any of the donated funds.

Psalm 46 - A Psalm of Comfort

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging...   The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress...

I will send this out to everyone on my contact list and would ask you to do the same. With Gods grace, we will be able to assist this family specifically.

Thank you,
