In Vitro (IVF) Fund

My husband, David, and I met 7 years ago and have been married for almost 5 years.  We have always dreamed of having a family.  Dave has a condition known as Cystic Fibrosis which along with frequent severe lung infections, malabsorption, and several other complications, 98% of males with CF are considered infertile.  Although the sperm is produced it lacks the ability to naturally fertilize an egg.  Due to this we have always known In Vitro was the path we were headed down.

Recently we began consulting with various clinics and started our initial lab work.  Finally we found a doctor and a clinic that we love, the doctor and staff have been incredible through this process with us.  Much to our surprise we learned that I have complications as well.  My FSH level are abnormally high, which means I am quickly losing a supply of healthy eggs.  Due to this factor our doctor has stressed that we cannot afford to wait to go through an In Vitro cycle, as our window is quickly closing!  (I have confirmed this with my Ob/Gyn and a labor and delivery nurse who has 20 years of experience).

We met with the financial & IVF consultants yesterday and I about cried when I saw the numbers.  I knew it was expensive, but WOW!  And being on such a short time frame (basically we have to have funds raised one way or another by August 1st!) we are seeking help from our family, friends and acquaintances.  Those with generous and compassionate hearts.  We appreciate aid of ANY amount and please pass our page onto your friends and family.  An IVF cycle costs $12,900 and medication can run $2,000-6,000.  We are trying to work with the clinic to reduce the cost as much as possible, but in the mean time I have posted our goal around the average.

1 in 10 couples suffer from infertility.  I am hoping that with this being sent out it will help bring awareness to everyone as well as comfort and hope to those who also are fighting this battle.
